Camas Kitchen Part 3: The Final Reveal – Bringing It All Together

Updated: Apr 7

After months of design, planning, and construction, we’ve finally arrived at the stunning reveal of the Camas Kitchen remodel. The journey from the initial vision to the final result was filled with exciting twists and turns, but each decision, from the layout to the finishes, was made with Jessica and Pete’s needs and dreams in mind. This kitchen is more than just a cooking space—it’s a hub for their family, a place to entertain, and a setting where they can come together to create memories.

This kitchen will play a significant role in the Gaultneys’ upcoming celebration: their son’s high school graduation this spring. The open, airy layout and ample space for seating will provide the perfect setting for family and friends to gather and celebrate this special milestone. It’s exactly what they envisioned when planning this remodel—to have a space that accommodates their family and their love of hosting.

A Seamless Blend of Function and Beauty

The remodel transformed the space into an open, airy kitchen that seamlessly blends style with functionality. The removal of the wall between the kitchen and formal dining area, along with the closure of the entry from the hallway to the dining room, completely opened up the space, making it feel much larger and more connected to the rest of the home. These changes allowed for more cabinetry, giving Jessica and Pete the storage they desperately needed while maintaining a flow that is perfect for entertaining.

The custom cabinetry provides not only ample storage but also a refined look that complements the overall aesthetic. From the drawers and pull-out shelves to the beautiful custom bench, the kitchen is both practical and visually appealing.

But it’s not just about the aesthetics—the layout was designed with functionality in mind to perfectly suit Jessica and Pete’s needs. The large island, with ample seating, is ideal for family meals and entertaining friends, all while offering a stunning view of the Columbia River Gorge.

Custom Features That Make a Difference

One of the biggest highlights of this remodel is the custom features that were added to make the kitchen truly unique. The hammered copper range hood, inspired by Jessica and Pete’s vision, creates a striking focal point above the stove. It beautifully complements the green backsplash, tying together the overall color scheme with its warm brown and gold undertones. These elements work in harmony to create a kitchen that feels both luxurious and welcoming.

The custom bench, a solution to the foundation issue, has become a favorite feature. It’s not just a place to sit—it’s a spot where Pete and Jessica love to relax together. One of them can cook while the other sits, enjoys a drink, and shares about their day. It’s these thoughtful touches that make the space feel truly special and tailored to their lifestyle.

The Heart of the Home

At the end of the day, this kitchen is more than just a place to cook. It’s the heart of Jessica and Pete’s home. The space is designed for togetherness—whether it’s cooking meals as a family, hosting friends, or simply enjoying a quiet moment together. With its thoughtful design, custom features, and beautiful finishes, the Camas Kitchen is everything they dreamed of and more.

When Jessica and Pete—two of our absolute favorite clients—came to us for their kitchen remodel, they had a clear goal: create a space that felt as functional as it was beautiful, a place where they could cook, entertain, and make memories. From the moment we started working together, it was clear that their vision for the kitchen was going to be something truly special.

This remodel is a true testament to the power of thoughtful design and collaboration. What was once a cramped and divided space is now an open, welcoming kitchen, complete with a massive island, custom details, and a layout that perfectly suits their lifestyle. And that hammered copper range hood? It’s exactly what Jessica and Pete dreamed of and adds such a beautiful, personal touch to the space.

This kitchen is more than just a place to cook—it’s the heart of their home, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It’s ready for years of family meals, celebrations, and, of course, the inevitable gatherings with friends. Take a look at the incredible results!

Final Thoughts: A Dream Remodel Completed

It’s always a pleasure to see a project come to life, but it’s even more rewarding when the space makes such a positive impact on the clients’ daily lives. Jessica and Pete’s Camas Kitchen remodel is a testament to thoughtful design, creative solutions, and a true collaboration between client and designer. This kitchen is ready for years of memories, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

When I delivered the coffee table book documenting the transformation, Jessica and Pete were already hosting a gathering of the Ninety-Nines, a group of female pilots, around the huge island filled with food. It was wonderful to see so many powerful women gathered in their new space, making memories and enjoying each other’s company.

Thank you for following along on this journey, and stay tuned for more project reveals and design inspiration coming soon!
