Why Organizational Systems Are Crucial To Design

If you're like me, you probably don't function well in chaos. A cluttered desk or a messy house just makes me feel overwhelmed and stressed out. That's why organizational systems are so crucial to the design of my home – when everything is in its place, I feel prepared to tackle anything that comes my way.

Case in point, we just got a new puppy - meet Copper!

The first thing I noticed (after falling deeply in love with my wriggling little ball of fur) is that our living space immediately became overrun with chew toys, dog beds, brushes, food, etc. On day 2 of having a puppy in our home, I invested in some shelving and hanging baskets to get us on a system:

  • Shelf #1 has food, treats, and chew toys.

  • Shelf #2 has brushes and shampoo.

  • Basket #1 is right next to the shelves and has all of his harnesses and clothes. A raincoat is a must here in the PNW!

  • Basket #2 is located near our backdoor with wipes, leashes, and poop bags.

Now, every time we come home from a walk or playtime at the park, everything has its place. And because everything is organized, it only takes a few minutes to tidy up – which means more time for cuddles and belly rubs!

The Benefits of Organizational Systems

While I might seem storage obsessed, there are actually some real benefits to incorporating organization into your home design:

Organizational Systems Help Reduce Stress and Anxiety

A cluttered home creates a cluttered mind. While you might be able to ignore a messy closet or an unorganized kitchen, your brain is constantly processing these visual stimuli – which can lead to increased stress and anxiety while you're trying to relax.

When your house is organized, it's easier to unwind. There's no longer a sense of constant chaos or the feeling that you're constantly playing "catch up" to keep the place tidy. You can finally take a deep breath and feel at ease in your own space.

Organizational Systems Help You Save Time

How often do you spend a good 30 minutes looking for your keys, the remote, or your phone? What's that one thing you can't ever seem to find? If your home is organized, you'll know exactly where to find what you're looking for – which means less time searching and more time doing the things you love.

Organized Homes are Easier to Clean and Maintain

A well-organized home is easier to keep tidy because everything has its place. You're not constantly moving around piles of clothes or digging through stacks of papers to find what you need. When things are organized, it's easier to put them away – making it easier to clean and more inviting for family and friends.

Decorative Storage Adds a Touch of Style to Any Space

One of the best things about organizational systems is that they don't have to be boring! There are so many creative and stylish ways to store your belongings. From wall-mounted shelves to beautiful baskets, there's a storage solution for every space and every budget!

If you're ready to get organized, start by taking inventory of your belongings and determine what storage solutions will work best for you. Don't be afraid to get creative – organizational systems can be both functional and stylish!
